Small, cosy and intimate, Whirled Cinema is a world away from your everyday multiplex experience. With an affordable membership, and free of advertising and trailers, this is the place to come to indulge your love of good film, kick back with a few drinks and make new friends in a chilled and welcoming environment.
A little off the beaten track, we’re hidden away in railway arches in Loughborough Junction (just a stone’s throw from Brixton and Herne Hill), making us one of South London’s best-kept secrets.
Since we opened our doors in 2010, as an independent members cinema we have set out to screen a diverse programme of the best of current world and art house cinema.
And before and after you get your cultural hit, you can relax and talk film with fellow members (and no doubt the passionate film buffs who work here) in the outdoor balcony area and lounge, take advantage of the bar – serving cocktails to coffee and everything in-between – and take advantage of our delicious hot snacks, should hunger strike.
Once you’ve paid your (annual or joint only) membership you don’t have to worry about queuing and buying tickets to see films, or paying for any added extras. You can watch as many films as you like for free, and you can even bring a guest free of charge to share the fun. Rather cleverly, your Oyster card doubles as your membership card – so you’ll always have it to hand – and will allow you to gain access to the cinema.
For further membership information visit the Members page. To receive weekly programme updates, you can subscribe to our mailing list.
The cinema can also be hired for your special events and screenings at very reasonable rates.
Had my birthday here, great staff and great place, mike was amazing
I love this place so cute and stylish staff are friendly great place to hold events highly recommend
Great venue when you first find it. Not easy to find at all, but a lovely atmosphere when you get there. Great for movie watching and a bar at the back. Would recommend!
Really cool dinky little independent cinema with a bar. Sound was good and the screen was fine. There's some noise from trains overhead but it didn't really bother me - it adds to the charm. I mean you're in urban London after all!
